DR. HARANATH POLICHERLA

For Dr. Haranath Policherla, making movies is a passion fed by all else in his life. His busy neurology practice in the metro Detroit area and his film-maker ties to his home country of India afford him the financial resources to produce films. At a partner in the production company 21st Century Lions, Policherla produced “Paris Pranaya” and “Premaya Namaha” Besides “Trap,” he was also the executive producer for “Vennela” and “Alexander Blue Fox.”

Policherla is also an actor, and has been involved in the performing arts since childhood. He performed in over thirty plays and directed seven short plays between the time he was in high school and graduated medical school. In addition to a role on TRAP, he has acted in six Indian language movies, including “Paris Pranaya,” which won the Oscar-equivalent Best Kannada Picture of the Year at the Filmfare Awards in India, and the megahit “Amruta Dhare.”

Still to be released in 2005 are “Vennela” and “Alexander Blue Fox,” in which Policherla plays the lead. He is in pre-production on a HOPE a community service oriented documentary movie, slated to shoot in December 2005. He hopes that it will be in theaters at the same time as “Trap.”
